Move tutors, oftentimes colloquially shortened to tutors, are NPCs that impart move techniques to compatibly learnable Pokémon tutees. They purvey another medium of move-learning to teach Pokémon moves that they might not learn regularly by other avenues or to help them relearn or expedite the acquisition of moves in their organic move pool.
Move tutors, or tutors, are NPCs that impart move techniques to Pokémon. They allow Pokémon to learn moves that might otherwise be unavailable, or learn said moves before the Pokémon reaches the required level. Since move tutors are in various locations throughout the game, one will need access to the area that they are stationed in.

Since move-tutors are locationally diverse throughout the game, one will need access to the area that they are stationed in, Pokémoney coverage for their monetary costs, and sometimes antecedent requirements, such as quests, in order to have access to their tutorship.
Do bear in mind that the Pokémoney price will be deducted from your Pokémon as soon as you accept the move and select a tutee even if you ultimately forego learning the move; this is irrefundable.

TM-tutors are a special subtype of move-tutors that provide another modal avenue for learning TMs for those that do not yet have their items existentially programmed in. While TM-tutors are functionally identical to conventional move-tutors, they are dichotomous in the Pokémon move pools that they teach; for example, if a Seismic Toss TM-tutor were to exist, only Pokémon that were compatible with the TM in the handheld games would be teachable by this tutor, as opposed to those who learned the aforementioned technique via move-tutoring.

While TM-tutors do enable Pokémon to learn unprogrammed-in TMs, they lack the portability of conventional TMs and are only considered a makeshift workaround for the inexistence of those TMs; as such, they are only expected to exist temporarily until the items, themselves, are distributable.

Also referred to more colloquially as move-relearners, move buffets will teach any move within the Pokémon's level-up and instinctual move pool that it satisfied the level requirement for; this means that the Pokémon must have already reached the level threshold that is designated for the move if it is to be relearnable. This is the principal means of restoring lost or forgotten moves.
Event tutors will impart moves exclusively during an active holiday event, typically emplaced in an area in the event's domain.

Pre-evolution and post-evolution moves will not be relearnable via the Move Relearners.

Pre-evolution's moves will not fall within the purview of the move buffets; for example, Arcanine can not inherit Growlithe's moves in its pool of relearnable moves, meaning that lost of Growlithe's moves would need to be learned in that stage and retained by Arcanine in order to possess them. This limitation affects most stone-evolved Pokémon, meaning that it is a wise to acquire all the moves one may desire in that pre-evolution stage before they elect to evolve the Pokémon.

Pre-Evolution Move Tutors
Homologous to Move Buffets, Move Inheritors—known more colloquially as pre-evolution move-tutors—move-inheritors can also recover lost moves; where they are dichotomized is that move-inheritors will allow evolved forms to relearn moves of their pre-evolutions, thereby affording move-learning continuity for moves exclusive to the pre-evolution that may have been forgotten or never learned—most common for stone-evolved Pokémon, which tend to be irretentive of most of their pre-evolution's moves.

TM-tutors

TM tutors are a special subtype of move tutors that provide another avenue for learning TMs for those that do not yet have their TM items programmed in. While TM tutors are functionally identical to conventional move tutors, they are different in the Pokémon move pools that they teach.

While TM-tutors do enable Pokémon to learn missing TMs, they lack the portability of conventional TM items and are only considered a workaround for the lack of those items. As such, they are only expected to exist until the items themselves are in the game.

Specialized tutors

Specialized tutors are functionaries used to teach Pokémon a gamut moves that were learnable by other, non-tutor methods in the official canon. Typically only one or two specialized tutors are instated in each region, and they

Move Relearners

Move Relearners will teach any move within the Pokémon's level-up move pool that the Pokémon has satisfied the level requirement for. This means that the Pokémon must have already reached the level requirement for the move, in order to relearn it. This is the principal means of restoring lost or forgotten moves. Pre-evolution and post-evolution moves will not be relearnable via the Move Relearners.

Move Relearners will charge 2,000 per transaction, and two are stationed per region. They are available in the following areas:

Pre-Evolution Move Tutors

Pre-Evo Move Tutors can also recover lost moves; where they are dichotomized is that move-inheritors will allow evolved forms to relearn moves of their pre-evolutions, thereby affording move-learning continuity for moves exclusive to the pre-evolution that may have been forgotten or never learned—most common for stone-evolved Pokémon, which tend to be irretentive of most of their pre-evolution's moves.

Pre-Evo Move Tutors are stationed in all of the daycare centers available (check side rooms), and they will charge 10,000 per move.

Egg Moves tutors

Main article: Egg Moves

A move-tutor exists that amalgamates all egg-inherited moves in the handheld games. These move-tutors are stationed in every daycare center and Tutor Heaven. Access to them entails defeating Naero's boss NPC.

No parent combinations are needed in order for the Pokémon to learn the Egg Move. The Pokémon will have unrestricted access to every Egg Move it would have in the handheld games, and an identical move pool will carry over to its evolutions. It will cost 15,000 per transaction.

Tutor Heaven

Main article: Tutor Heaven

Tutor Heaven houses TM Teachers and Move Tutors. It is accessible via Thor in Vermilion City and is reserved for the top 25 PvP players.

Legendary Events tutor

Researcher Allen, accessible upon completion of the Legendary Events Move quest, can teach extragenerational moves to Legendary Pokémon that do not otherwise have them in their learnsets (limited to one Generation, currently VII). He can be found in the Ruins of Alph Research Center, and he'll charge 20,000 for each move.
