Various Effort Value-training locations are recommended in order to optimize the EVs apportionment of one's Pokémon. While not categorically required, they are recommended because they have an all-encompassing array of common wild Pokémon yielding EVs for each stat.

Effort Wald

Main article: Kanto Safari Effort Wald

Adjoining the Kanto Safari Zone in Fuchsia City, the Effort Wald is the most tautly organized EV-hunting area in the game. It is sectionalized into two zones, each inhabited by three Pokémon (for a total of six) with distinct EV yields.

Despite its optimality for EV-training, some might prefer non-Safari training areas because the Wald charges 10,000 for 20-minute sessions. Though, the fee will be reduced to 2,000 per entry if the player has an active Safari Pass. Nonetheless, many are willing to shell out the requisite fee for its convenience as opposed to the scattered public areas.
