Route 17 is a latitudinally bound route in central Kanto that is interlocated between Route 16 and Route 18. As the centerpoint of the Cycling Road road environs, it is also referring to as the Cycling Road or bike route of the Kanto region.

As is the stipulator with accessing all cycling roads, it is impermissible to enter it if you do not have a Bicycle on-hand. Additionally, a Soul Badge will be needed to pass the gatehouses, thereby necessitating that you take the more roundabout chain of routes to Fuchsia City when accessing the area for the firsts time.

Pokémon Mounts are discluded from Bicycles, as the gatehouses are only passable if you have a Bicycle (any one from the available colorway); however, you are allowed to ride Pokémon Mounts within the encompassing routes after the initial entry thereto.

The contiguously north and south routes meanderingly lead to Celadon City and Fuchsia City, respectively; as such, this is the shortest pedestrial pathway between the two cities.
