Rest is a Psychic-type status-based move.
It is also known as TM44—the encapsulating TM of this move technique.
Functionality
Rest will automatically induce sleep upon the user, thereby replenishing its HP to the maximal amount and supplanting any other status ailment that may be occurrent to the Pokémon at the juncture of its usage.
While asleep, the user will be incapacitated from making any move until they wake up; the only exception is the Sleep Talk technique, which prevalently coexists with Rest.
Because Rest is nearly functionally identical to a Full Restore in the sense that it restores all the user's HP and is curative of any potential status ailment, the move is popularly used in conjunction with the Pokémon-equipping of a Chesto Berry or Lum Berry.
