This quest was the third installment in the series of quests for the Valentine's Day event in Aphrodia Island. It has been dubbed James' quest by the community due to his prevalence in the quest that is based off of Episode 48 of the original Pokémon anime.

• A Pokémon with the ability Frisk

Instructional Walkthrough

To begin the quest, you have to find and battle Ash. He can be found in the northeast of Aphrodia Island; to the right of the Valentina NPC there is a small path going north at the base of the hill. An indicator that you're at the correct spot is a Valentine's Day Minun that walks in the same path. As you approach Ash, Brock, and Misty, Ash will stop you and ask that you battle him.

Frontyard

Once you've defeated Ash, you will follow the group across the bridge where they find and read a sign. It says that a little boy is missing and you recognize it's James from Team Rocket. Following that, a butler appears and asks you if you know the boy. To his delight, you do and he then asks you to follow him into the forest, through the manner, and into the mansion.

You are tasked with finding James in Whitmore Residence Frontyard. James can be found hiding behind one of the pink-leaved trees. Once found, you inform him of the situation and he agrees to go to the mansion with you. Be sure to select the Be Kind option, as this results in the reward being a Locked IV Reroll. Otherwise, you receive 10 Love Balls.

Backyard

After another onslaught of dialog, James runs out of the mansion to Whitmore Residence Backyard. Follow after and speak with him. He asks you to find Growlie, his Growlithe. But to be able to approach Growlie, you'll need Bones. With a Frisk-bearing Pokémon, search around the backyard until you get a prompt saying your Pokémon smells something; a Bone will be nearby. Once you've found three Bones, return to James. He'll now ask you to find Growlie within 2 minutes.

Growlie can be hard to find since he is hidden behind trees. He does not have a fixed location, meaning its randomized for every player. Furthermore, the location changes every time you fail. As soon as you interact with him, he will eat the Bones and you'll be teleported back to James along with Growlie. After being confronted by Jessiebelle, James runs off again. This time to a cave behind a pink tree on the northwestern area of Whitmore Residence Backyard. Enter the cave, speak with James, go through the dialog, and after it ends, he will thank you and tell you that his friend Psyduck Fan will provide you with the Locked-IV Reroll. Psyduck Fan can be found on the far-right room of the Whitmore Mansion.

• Note If you have not completed the Salamencite (quest), you will be rewarded with a Nature Reroll Ticket instead. However, you can claim the Locked-IV Reroll by completing the aforementioned quest and returning to Psyduck Fan, as long as you have not claimed the Nature Reroll Ticket already.
