The Pidgeotite quest is the questline done in order to acquire the Mega stone for Pidgeot—the Pidgeotite.

Preparations

Prepare a team of level 100 Pokémon to make this quest go as smoothly as possible.

Instructional Walkthrough

Flying Type Lover

To begin the quest, head to Viridian City. Once there, on the top left of the city, there will be an NPC named Flying Type Lover. Speak with him and he will challenge you to a battle.

Pidgeotite (quest) Trainers

Youngster Pidgey Lv. 10

All NPCs cool down after 7 days unless noted contrariwise. All NPCs may have new Pokémons, or higher level Pokémons upon rematch unless noted contrariwise.

After battling him, he will ask to see your Pokédex to see if you are also a Flying type lover. You will need a certain amount of caught data from Flying type Pokémon. Now that you have been verified as a Flying type lover, he will give you the quest.
You have to catch and show him a Pidgey level 5 or below. He will then ask you to comeback when you think your Pidgey is ready to challenge his Pidgeot. You are free to train your Pidgey as much as you want and evolve it. Once you are confident that your Pidgeot can defeat his Pidgeot, return to the Flying Type Lover and speak with him.

Upon his defeat, he will tell you of another flying type lover near Victory Road Kanto.

Blue

The other flying type lover is none other than Blue, the former Kanto Champion.
Make your way to the Indigo Plateau. Inside there, find Blue, speak with him, and show him the Pidgeot you trained. He will then challenge you to a fight.

After the battle, return to the Flying Type Lover in Viridian City and speak with him. Show him the Pidgeot one final time and he will mention that Blue left behind a present for you—the Pidgeotite.
