Indigo Plateau is the final Kanto and Johto area, where the Elite Four of both regions will await the player. Only after completing their challenges will the respective regions be truly completed.
Furthermore, it is also the departure point for Hoenn. When the player is ready to tackle on the third region, the Hoenn Traveler in Indigo Plateau will carry him or her to the first town of the region, Littleroot Town, after speaking to him.
