Gulp Missile (ability)

Gulp Missile is one of the many abilities that are inheritable by Pokémon.

Function

If a Pokémon with Gulp Missile uses Dive or Surf, it catches prey and changes its form depending on its remaining HP:

• if it has more than half of its maximum HP remaining, it catches an Arrokuda and changes into its Gulping Form,
• if it has half or less of its maximum HP remaining, it instead catches a Pikachu and changes into its Gorging Form.

If the Pokémon gets hit in either form, it spits out its catch at the attacker, even if it has no HP remaining. The projectile deals damage equal to 1/4 of the target's maximum HP and inflicting a secondary effect depending on its catch:
an Arrokuda also lowers the target's Defense by 1 stage, and a Pikachu paralyzes the target.

The Pokémon returns to its base form after spitting out its catch or switching out.

Gulp Missile is the signature ability of Cramorant, but can be acquired by Trace, Skill Swap, Wandering Spirit or Receiver.
