Bug Catching Contest (Multiplayer) is a Johto area exclusive to the Bug Catching Contest in National Park. Due to the contest's cooldown, the multiplayer version of the Bug Catching Contest can only be accessed for 60 minutes every Saturday, making it difficult to hunt for a specific Pokémon. However, the rewards from the contest makes coming back worthwhile. This mini-event takes place every Saturday at either 10:00 GMT+0 or 22:00 GMT+0. Additionally, based on your location and the time of the year, this time may be shifted one hour ahead due to DST. Furthermore, 30 minutes before the contest begins, there will be an in-game system message informing players that it will begin soon.
Not to be confused with the Bug Catching Contest (Single), the Multiplayer Bug Catching Contest is a weekly activity where the player is given 60 minutes to hunt and submit Bug type Pokémon found within the Bug Catching Area. They must be of the correct nature and ability, else they will not be accepted and scored. The winners are determined by the submissions of the highest scores. Scores are determined by rarity and IVs. To submit a Pokémon, you simply have to speak with the Bug Catching Expert and show your Pokémon. He will tell you the score of your Pokémon and its current placement in the leaderboard. You can submit as many Pokémon as you'd like, but only your highest score will be used. Below is a table that denotes the acceptable natures and ability combinations for each Pokémon that can be submitted to the Expert Bug Catcher:

Once the competition is over, scores will be tallied and the Bug Catching Expert will give you your results along with the corresponding rewards.

Below are the prizes that are handed out after the contest ends. If you did not submit any bug with a correct nature or ability, you will not be eligible for any rewards. If you submitted a bug, but did not place in the Top 25, you will be rewarded with 3 PvE Coins.
