Various Effort Value-training locations are recommended in order to optimize the EVs apportionment of one's Pokémon. While not categorically required, they are recommended because they have an all-encompassing array of common wild Pokémon yielding EVs for each stat.

Effort Wald

Main article: Kanto Safari Effort Wald

Adjoining the Kanto Safari Zone in Fuchsia City, the Effort Wald is the most tautly organized EV-hunting area in the game. It is sectionalized into two zones, each inhabited by three Pokémon (for a total of six) with distinct EV yields.

Despite its optimality for EV-training, some might prefer non-Safari training areas because the Wald charges 10,000 for 20-minute sessions. Nonetheless, many are willing to shell out the requisite fee for its convenience as opposed to the scattered public areas.
