Route 7 is a Kanto route that is a bidirectional junction between Celadon City and Saffron City.

It is one of the quadrilateral contiguities of Saffron City, being the western border of it; the other-three are Route 5 (north), Route 6 (south), and Route 8 (east). Access to Saffron City will initially be inadmissible until the Soul Badge has been acquired from Fuchsia City; as such.

Pinkan Island quest

Main article: Pinkan Island (quest)

After speaking to the Owner in Celadon Department Store and learning that they have been robbed, the next destination is in Route 7. Here, the Team Rocket duo Butch and Cassidy will fight the player upon talking to them. Although their Pokémons are all level 120, their movesets are the last 4 moves that they learn by level-up, making them very easy for bosses. In case of defeat, they can be immediately rechallenged.

Once they have been defeated, all that is left to do is to report back to Officer Jenny in Vermilion City, which will allow access to Pinkan Island. The quest will however continue there.
