The Jirachi quest is one out of many additional, not story related Legendary Pokémon quests and is the only way to catch the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi.
Other than usuall for a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon quest, this quest requires a region specific hour requirement (120 Hours). Means the player time since Hoenn was started. The Hoenn playing time can be checked by Proffessor Birch in Littleroot Town.
Instructional walkthrough
Jirachi and Castform's seen data
The quest starts in Player's House with Jirachi's seen data. Once you have beaten the Hoenn Elite Four you will have the option to get Jirachi's seen data at the second floor of the Players House located in Littleroot Town. A interaction with the Jirachi will set the seen data in your Pokédex.
The next step is to get Castform's seen data. For that, you have to fight a nameless scientist located in the Weather Institute at Route 119A. The Scientest can only be fought once but the seen data gets saved anyway, if you lose or win.

Latios and Latias
Firstly, to be able to fight Latios and Latias in order to get the seen data of them, you have to interact with the TV in the Players House in Little Root Town, which results in a dialogue which shows you wich of this two legendary's is roaming around and need to be fought first. It should be the Red Pokémon first - Latias.
Before you start hunting for the seen data, you should visit Proffessor Birch located in is Lab, also in Litttle Root Town. Birch will unlock the Moon for you, means you can now travel any time to the Moon with a fee of §15,000.
After this small stopover, you can go for Latias now. However, it can be at ten possible locations.
Latias
- Starting Truck lacated in Littleroot town.
- Route 103 on the water.
- New Mauville in the upper right corner of the building.
- Weather Institute second floor.
- Mt. Chimney at the reactor located north western.
- Meteor Falls B1F 2R
- Mt.Pyre Exterior
- Lilycove_Department_Store on the roof top.
- Abandoned Ship
- Hoenn Safari Zone 2 House.
Once you have found the right location, interact with it. Latias will evolve into Mega Latias and a battle starts. Mega Latias has a level around 100-120. Even if mega evolved, you will get the seen data of Latias once you started the fight, if you win or lose does not matter regarding the Pokédex data. When the battle is over, you have to go back to the Starter House again and have to interact with the TV. Now a 'Blue Pokémon' is roaming around - Latios. Latios also has ten possible locations as Latias had.

- Petalburg Maze in north eastern direction.
- Devon Corporation 3rd floor.
- Granite Cave.
- Route 124 Underwater
- Route 123 at the lake.
- Shoal Cave in the ice room at low tide.
- Mossdeep Gym
- Sky Pillar 5th floor.
- Victory Road Hoenn
- Route 134, hidden behinde a rock.
Same as with Latias here, once you interacted with it, it will mega evolve into Mega Latios and a battle will start. The seen data will be from Latios anyway.
The three Regis and Rayquaza
The next goal is to get the seen data of the three Regis, meant with that are Regice, Registeel and Regirock, located in their caves. As usuall, the seen data will be obtained with a battle against the monsters.

Once you have battled the three Regis, you can now aim for the seen data of Rayquaza which is located at the roof of Sky Pillar.
Archi and Maxie
The last seen datas you have to obtain are form Groudon and Kyogre. Beating Team Magma leader Maxie and Team Aqua leader Archi will result in obtaining the seen data of this Pokémon.
To battle against this bosses, it requires to have 6 level 100 Pokémon in your party. Both bosses Pokémon's are level 120. This battles are also one time fights. The seen data of the Pokémon should be obtained once you started the battle. To conclude, it does not matter if you win or lose regarding the seen data. However, you wont have a chance to get the extra rewards in case you lose which are a Carvanha from Archi and a Numel from Maxie.
Archi is located at Marine Cave, a part of Cave of Origin located in Sootopolis City and Maxie is located in Terra Cave, also in Cave of Origin.

Catching Jirachi
Now you can finally go for Jirachi and catch it. The Moon should be unlocked now as it was suggested in the Latios and Latias part, to talk to Birch in Littleroot Town. If not done, you can do it now too.
Jirachi is located on the Moon. To get to the Moon, you have to travel to Mossdeep City, enter the Space Center and talk to the older man at the second floor, which will give you the option to travel to the Moon for $15,000.
Once reached the Moon, you have to pass some caves in order to reach the shiny stone on a hill. The way is the same as for Deoxys in the past. Interacting with the shiny stone will teleport you to the Wish Room with Jirachi in the middle of it. Interacting with Jirachi will result in a fight and the chance to catch it. In case Jirachi was not successfully caught, you have the chance to catch it again by beating Nikola.
