"I see you have grown stronger since our gym battle, but so have I. Let me challenge you; I want to test how much both of us have improved!"

—Erika

Erika is the gym-leader boss NPC of the eponymous Celadon City gym-leader.

As a multifunctional NPC, it is also sought-out as the official Giga Drain-tutor in addition to its conventional boss-NPC functions.

Giga Drain tutorship

Erika will also teach the Giga Drain technique to any compatible Pokémon tutee for 7,500 per transaction.

Tuteeship does not require you to have previously defeated her; however, you must be a Kanto champion before you can access this.

Challenging Erika

Erika resides in the environs of Viridian Maze, where she exists on the pretext of planting a bush.

Because of the area's lightless obscurity, you are strongly recommended to bring a Flash-wielding Pokémon on-hand to illuminate the area for navigational purposes; this can be obtained early on as HM02 in a Route 2 stophouse.

In the sinuous maze, Erika can be found on x-coordinate 48 and y-coordinate 14; use the /loc command in order to ascertain your current coordinates in relation to that.

Once interacted with, you have the option to initiate the battle with her (in addition to her Giga Drain tutorship) contingent that there is no in-effect cooldown time. If you lose, you must wait for 12 days to elapse before she is rechallengable.

  • Emboldened moves avail from a STAB bonus when deployed by that Pokémon.
  • Italicized moves are functionally broken; see their individualized pages for more information.

Rewards

The standard subsets of rewards will be randomized and rewarded each time; however, upon defeating her three-consecutive times, you will reap one of the standard rewards in addition to the selectability of one out of four Pokémon—including Turtwig, which isn't normally subsumed in the prizeset.

There is no shiny counterpart of Pokémon rewarded from the randomized prizeset; only the selectable prizes have one, which is 1/4,096 in fractional notation (0.0244%, in percental notation).

All rewarded Pokémon will be initialized at level 20.
