Route 201 is a Sinnoh route located north of the starter town Twinleaf Town. It connects the town to Lake Verity and Sandgem Town, however it will be necessary to first speak to Barry before going to either.

In particular, this route is where the player will be able to choose his or her Starter Pokémon of the region, making it the first time they are obtained outside of a Pokémon lab.

Starter Pokémon

Upon entering Sinnoh for the first time, all of the player's pokemons are taken away, and he or she must obtain a Starter Pokémon. Professor Rowan, which appears after speaking to Barry, will offer to choose between the three Generation 4 Starter Pokémons. Once the player has chosen his or her Pokémon, it will be possible to move to either Lake Verity or the next destination, Sandgem Town.
