False Swipe is a Normal-type damage-dealing move.
It is also known as TM104—the encapsulating TM of this move technique.
Functionality
False Swipe inflicts damage; if the damage output thereof were to faint them otherwise, False Swipe would leave 1 HP remaining. If the opponent already has 1 HP, False Swipe will be damageless.
Since False Swipe near-maximally damages the opponent without any incurrence of potentially fainting them, it is considered agentive for capturing Pokémon, as it helps maximize their catchability probability.
