Route 41

Whirl Islands is a Johto cave spread throughout Route 41. Inside this route, there are four entry points into the Whirl Islands, and each entry point has its own small area. Just like the name of those areas implies, there is one entry north-east of the route, another one north-west, south-east and then south-west.

Each entry point are connected together through the first underground floor, however because of ledges, it is not possible to reach certain areas from specific entry points:

  • North-east: all areas can be reached.
  • North-west: all areas except the North-east exit can be reached.
  • South-east: only the south-west exit can be reached.
  • South-west: only the south-east exit can be reached.

B2F and floors below can thus only be reached by entering one of the two northern entrances.

Notable miscellanies

Thor

Thor can be found in the lowest floor, Whirl Islands B4F. As such, it is necessary to enter from either the north-west or the north-east entrances in order to reach him. He will battle the player if he or she has a full party of 6 level 100 Pokémons. See the main article for more information.
