Pokémon League Reception Gate is a Kanto area that links Route 22, Route 26, Route 28 and Victory Road Kanto together. Although the location itself has nothing in particular, it is a building that the player will always cross to reach end-region areas. Most notably, it provides the sense of accomplishment with the multiple paths that unlock as the player completes the Kanto and Johto Elite 4s.

Notable miscellanies

Trainer Red

Upon arriving for the first time at the Pokémon League Reception Gate, Red will be blocking the way to Victory Road Kanto and will challenge the player with a seemingly undefeatable team. Even with a full level 100 team, Red will prove to be difficult to defeat. No reward is to be obtained from a victory except a rare dialogue confirming the player is ready for the Elite 4. It is not required to beat Red.

Red
  • Emboldened moves avail from a STAB bonus when deployed by that Pokémon.
  • Italicized moves are functionally broken; see their individualized pages for more information.

Route to Johto

After Kanto's Elite 4 has been completed, the guards blocking the way to Route 26 will leave. This is the route that leads to Johto, and upon arriving in New Bark Town, the town the route leads to, the player will be locked from all his Pokémon and will not be able to return to Kanto until the obtention of the 8th Johto badge. As such, it is necessary to make sure all preparations are complete before moving onto this route.

Route to Mt. Silver

After Johto's Elite 4 has been completed, the guards blocking the way to Route 28 will leave. This is the route that leads to Mt. Silver, the area considered end-game content for the Johto region.
