Excavation is a unique, and certainly the main feature of the [[Hoenn]] region. Once a day, it is possible to enter Excavation sites to find rare Pokemons as well as some unique items, notably being the main source of [[Fossils]]. In addition, some rewards such as [[Move Tutor]] and Syncable [[Fossils|Fossil]] revival are offered as the player accumulates enough points.

Excavations are however a very pricey feature, costing {{Pdollar}}100,000 to unlock, and {{Pdollar}}2,500 per site entry, for up to {{Pdollar}}17,500 per day. It is estimated to cost up to {{Pdollar}}600,000 in order to unlock all the features of Excavation.

==Unlocking==
The quest to unlocking Excavation cannot be started until the [[Elite Four (Hoenn)|Hoenn Elite Four]] has been completed.

To get started, Fossil Maniac Charles, located in [[Route 114]]'s northmost house, will instruct the player to gather Rock Fragments. There are 6 of them, one near each Excavation site. They are hidden items located directly on top of nearby rocks, so it will be necessary to first use [[Rock Smash]], then examine a second time to pick up the Rock Fragment. They can be found in the following places:
*[[Route 115]]: One of the two south-westmost rocks.
*[[Rusturf Tunnel]]: The rock immdiately under Gingery Jones.
*[[Fiery Path]]: The rock two tiles north from Gingery Jones.
*[[Route 111 Desert]]: The second eastmost rock.
*[[Route 103]]: The northmost rock.
*[[Route 119A]]: The southmost rock.

Only the correct rocks leave rock pebbles under after using [[Rock Smash]]. The Rock Fragments do not appear in the inventory, so the only way to know if a Rock Fragment has already been taken is by trying to walk over the rock pebble.

Once all 6 Rock Fragments have been obtained, the unlock quest can be finished by talking back to Fossil Maniac Charles in [[Route 114]]. However, he will request to pay {{Pdollar}}100,000 in order to give the Archeological Permit. With the permit in hand, it will now be possible to enter Excavation sites.

==Excavation System==
There are a total of 7 Excavation sites, with one of them being a later addition and requiring to be unlocked. Entering any site costs {{Pdollar}}2,500.

Inside each site, there will be approximately 20 breakable objects. These all look the same in the same site, but different in different sites, varying from objects like pillars and tombstones. Breaking them using [[Rock Smash]] or a [[Pick Axe]], obtainable in the Coin Shop for 75 coins, is the main goal of Excavations. Each rock respawns after 22 hours, making Excavations a daily activity.

When breaking these objects, the player receives 1 Discovery Point, a score that unlocks Excavation reward. There is also a chance for encountering a wild Pokémon or obtaining items. However, to each Pokémon and [[Fossils|Fossil]], there is a needed amount of Discovery points: if the player doesn't have enough Discovery points, a message will instead appear, saying the Pokemon fled away or that the Fossil broke. As such, early days will be particularly unfruitful. However, a small amount of bonus Discovery Points is obtained when that happens, making the unlocking of features a bit faster.

In each Excavation site, there is also one special breakable object, which can be identified by shiny sparkles floating around it. Breaking this object is not possible without the Cash Shop [[Pick Axe]]. These shiny breakable, on top of the regular Pokémons and items, also have unique Pokémons that can spawn. Furthermore, Pokémons do not run away even if the player does not have enough Discovery points.

==Rewards==
New Pokémon encounters and features are unlocked depending on how many Discovery Points the player has accumulated throughout his or her Excavation career. Once a reward has been unlocked, it is thus permanently unlocked. All rewards are unlocked at 6000 Discovery Points. The rewards are as follow:
*Up to 4800 Discovery Points: Gradual unlock of new Pokémons.
*2400 Discovery Points: [[Gingery Jones (boss)]] becomes challengeable in [[Feral Site]]
*3000 Discovery Points: [[Wondrous Site]] can now be entered.
*4000 Discovery Points: [[Fossils]] stop breaking.

There are two NPCs in this site. The first one, Gingery Jones will revive [[Fossils]] in a way that they can be Synchronized. However, he will not offer this service until 6000 Discovery Points have been accumulated, and will also ask for a fee of {{Pdollar}}15,000.

The second one, Artifact Maniac Hastor, will sell various items for Artifact Pieces, a currency that can sometimes be obtained by breaking objects in Excavation sites. Although expensive, [[Fossil|Fossils]], [[TMs and HMs|TMs]] and rare held-able items can be obtained from that shop.

The in-game '''Coin Shop''' is the overlaying interface in-game used to manage and exchange Coins for the purchasable commodities on it. You can open up the Coin Shop via the emblematic purse that's interposed between the world-map icon and the [[Pokétime]] clock on the client; see the visual overview of the Coin Shop to the right for the purse emblem.

==Coins==
As the eponymous currency of the shop, Coins can be exchanged for a multitude of potentially otherwise-unobtainable purchasables on it; see the subsectional coverage below for a list of it and their respective prices.

===Obtaining Coins===
Since Coins are designed as a gratitudinously rewardful payout for donations, they are reaped primarily through donations. You can donate for them by clicking on the "Get Coins" button on the Coin Shop interface. PayPal is currently the only direct transactional avenue accepted for donating to PRO.

The exchange rate is 100 Coins for every $5 (USD equivalence) donated. That exchange-rate increment is not scalable, meaning you can only donate for 100 Coins in a singular donation; however, since there is no known time-constraining limitation as to how many donations you can submit, you can make successively separate donations to obtain more Coins within a short time space.

Occasionally, Coin-rewarding giveaways can also be hosted by staff, thereby allowing them to be obtained extra-transactionally to a certain level of occasionality; stay attuned to the Announcements section on the forums and Twitter for announcements regardingly.

The only avenue for their [[Trading|tradability]] from other players is through Coin Capsules—tradable Coin-containers. They are purchasable on the Coin Shop for 100 Coins, and they will statically store the same amount, allowing them to be traded in increments of 100 Coins per trade transaction.

===Difficulties receiving Coins===

Firstly, ensure that you've relogged thereupon donating for them; this is required to effectuate them on your account.

=Entei, Raikou and Suicune's Seen Data=
Travel to [[Ecruteak City]] and talk to Scientist Ray at the [[Bell Tower]] Entrance. Once you are [[Johto]] champ, he will ask you if you could help him and his researching team since you have the [[Pokédex]].
 Now head to Scientist Ray inside of the building and interact with him. He will ask if you return to him when you have the seen data of all three Legendary Dog's.
 Fight your way through the Bell Tower Basement and interact with the three Legenday Dog's, which will then flee.
Now you can obtain their seen data by battling them.
 Once you have fought them, the seen data is saved, no matter if you win or lose.

===Entei===

 In order to get the Seen Data of [[Entei]], you need to go to the [[Johto Safari]] Mountain Zone and battle Entei in the small island surrounded by lava.

To reach the area, you have to enter first the Johto Safari Zone by paying a fee of {{Pdollar}} 5,000 and then, once you are inside, go to left.

In order to reach Entei, a Pokémon with [[Rock Smash]], or the item [[Navigational_devices#Pickaxe|Pickaxe]], is required.

===Suicune===

 In order to get the Seen Data of [[Suicune]], you need to go to [[Tohjo Falls]] and battle Suicune which is located on the top of the right waterfall.

It is possible to reach Tohjo Falls in two different ways:
*From [[Kanto]], by going south of [[Route 26]] and then, once you are in [[Route 27]], going to west.
*From [[Johto]], by going east/right of [[New Bark Town]]

In order to reach Suicune, a Pokémon with [[Waterfall]] is required in order to climb the waterfall.

 In order to get the Seen Data of [[Raikou]], you need to go to [[Mt. Silver]].

Once you are in [[Mt. Silver]], you have to make your way to [[Mt._Silver#Mt._Silver_3F|Mt Silver 3F]]. To do that, you will need to beat first the Karate Master in the Expert belt and then Jackson in Mt. Silver 2F.

In case of a defeat, the cooldown to re-battle Jackson are 2 real-time hours.

Once you reached Mt. Silver 3F, clmb up the stairs and battle Raikou.

=Get the Bell=
Travel to [[Ecruteak City]] and talk to Scientist Ray at the [[Bell Tower]] Barrier Station 1F.
If you will meet the requirements he will ask you to choose one of the three bells between:
*Zap Bell, for Raikou
*Lava Bell, for Entei
*Water Bell, for Suicune

Keep in mind that once you have choosen the Bell, you will have the chance to change it only once.

After you have got the Bell of the Legendary Beast you choose, you are ready to battle the Legendary Guardian of the respective Legendary Beast you choose.

=Defeat the Guardian=
Once you have the Bell, you are now ready to beat the Legendary Guardian of the respective Legendary Beast.

 The requirements to battle the Legendary Guardians are:
* All [[Kanto]] and [[Johto]] Pokémon owned
* 450+ Hours of playtime

Winning against the Legendary Guardian will have 20% chance for them to spawn the Legendary Dog corresponding to your Bell.

At the 4th consecutive win, you can choose to spawn it with a 100% chance, instead of another win streak reward.

Once spawned, you can leave the area to fetch your Sync and Hunter Pokémons and come back to catch it!

If you fail at catching it, you will have to defeat Boss [[Nikola_(boss)|Nikola]] to get another shot

====Entei Guardian====

 Entei Guardian is located in [[Route 25]] Cave.
 To reach him, go north of [[Cerulean City]] passing from the golden bridge.

Once you are in [[Route 25]], keep going north until you will find the entrance of a cave, interact with the cave you will find behind the NPC Youngster Chealsea.

Once you are into the cave, if you meet the requirements, you can battle Entei Guardian.

====Raikou Guardian====

 Raikou Guardian is located in Secret Base Alpha, in [[Route 110]].

To reach him, go south of Mauwville and once you are in [[Route 110]] move down until you will see the surfable zone right to the Trick Master House.

From there, just use [[Surf]] and go north until you will see a bush on a little piece of island, similar to a Secret Base of the handheld games. Interact with that and you will found yourself in the Secret Base.

Once you are in the Secret Base Alpha, if you meet the requirements, you can battle Raikou Guardian.

====Suicune Guardian====

After you'll be teleported to the left part of [[Lake Of Rage]], keep going north until you find another teleport that will bring you to [[Secluded Lake]].

Once you are in [[Secluded Lake]], if you meet the requirements, you can battle Suicune Guardian.
