As an island, it entails that players must travel asea for their initial visits; this entails access to a [[HMs|HM03]] ([[Surf]]) and a Surf-wielding Pokémon on-hand or another [[Navigational devices|navigational device]].

===Cinnabar Lab===
Cinnabar Lab serves as a polestar for various Pokémon professors and scientists that prefer to work seclusively, allowing them to work in an islanded environment from the rest of the region's mainland.

Most notably, the lab is home to many NPCs of interest, two of which are important in obtaining particular Pokemons, most notably Fossil Pokémons and [[Porygon]]. However, the room in which those two NPCs are located in, Cinnabar Lab Room 3, will be blocked by a guard that will refuse to leave until the Cinnabar Gym has been completed.

====[[Silver Disc]] and [[Porygon]]====
In Cinnabar Lab Room 1, an NPC will evaluate the player's Pokedex. Should the player have the caught data of over 100 Pokémons, he will offer a [[Silver Disc]] as a one-time reward.

Regardless of how the [[Silver Disc]] was obtained, Davis in Cinnabar Lab Room 3 will convert the [[Silver Disc]] into a [[Porygon]] of level 5, again with the requirement of over 100 caught data. This process will require him a random time of between 2 and 7 hours to complete, and so the player will be required to return the next day or later in order to claim the [[Porygon]].

====[[Fossils|Fossil]] reanimator====
In Cinnabar Lab Room 3 is located the [[Fossils|Fossil]] reanimator. He will turn any of the following [[Fossils]] into their respective Pokémon:
*[[Dome Fossil]] into [[Kabuto]]
*[[Helix Fossil]] into [[Omanyte]]
*[[Old Amber]] into [[Aerodactyl]]
*[[Jaw Fossil]] into [[Tyrunt]]
*[[Sail Fossil]] into [[Amaura]]
Each Pokémon will be revived at level 25. It will be the first opportunity to revive the fossil chosen back in [[Mt. Moon]].

====[[NPC Traders]]====
There are three [[NPC Traders]] in the Cinnabar Lab. They are as follow:
*[[Electrode]] Trader. Located in Cinnabar Lab Room 1, he will offer his level 30 [[Electrode]] for the player's [[Raichu]].
*[[Tangela]] Trader. Also located in Cinnabar Lab Room 1, he will offer his level 10 Tangela for the player's [[Venonat]].
*[[Seel]] Trader. Located in Cinnabar Lab Room 3, he will offer his level 10 [[Seel]] for the player's [[Ponyta]].

====[[Move Tutors]]====
There are two [[Move Tutors]] located in the Cinnabar Lab, although only one is functionnal. The non-functionnal one, located in Cinnabar Lab Room 1, explains that he will teach [[Metronome]] for {{Pdollar}}8,000, however due to the move not being functionnal, he asks to come again later.

The other [[Move Tutors|Move Tutor]], located in Cinnabar Lab Room 3, will teach the move [[Gyro Ball]] to any compatible Pokémon for the price of {{Pdollar}}15,000.

====Professor Oak (boss)====
Professor Oak can be found in Cinnabar Lab Room 2. He will fight the player, given that he has a full party of 6 level 100 pokemons and has at least 200 seen data in his Pokédex. See the main entry for more details.

===Officer Jenny's bounties===
Just like in [[Viridian City]], there is an Officer that gives small quests called "bounties". Found in the north-west shore of the island, she gives the following bounties:

*Fight Articuno: This bounty requires the player to obtain the seen data of [[Articuno]]. This can be done by fighting [[Articuno]] at [[Seafoam Islands]] B4F. The reward for completing this bounty is {{Pdollar}}12,000.
*Revive a Fossil: This bounty requires the player to revive any Fossil at the nearby Laboratory. As long as the Pokemon is of the player's OT, Officer Jenny will accept any of the followings: [[Kabuto]], [[Kabutops]], [[Omanyte]], [[Omastar]] and [[Aerodactyl]]. The Pokemon is also not lost upon completing the bounty. The reward for completing this bounty is {{Pdollar}}6,000 and a [[Hard Stone]].
*Catch a Corsola: This bounty requires the player to catch a [[Corsola]]. They can be found by surfing at Cinnabar Island, however like Jenny warns, they do not appear during the night. The [[Corsola]] is also not lost upon completing the bounty. The reward for completing this bounty is 10 [[Lure Ball|Lure Balls]].

The player may accept any bounty at the same time, but each bounty can only be completed once.

===Sailor===
A Sailor is waiting immediately in front of the Pokemon Center. He will take the player directly to [[Route 19]]'s beach for the price of {{Pdollar}}2,500, or for free if the player has an active [[Transit Pass]]. However, he only offers the service to those that have completed the [[Transit Quest]] and the [[Elite Four (Kanto)|Kanto Elite Four]].

==Cinnabar Gym==

If there is a dearth of Water-type Pokémon in your possession, they can be cobbled together locally by [[Surf|surfing]] and [[fishing]], as they ambiently inhabit Cinnabar Island and the contiguous water routes.

[[Rock (type)|Rock]]-type Pokémon are additionally practicable, especially against his [[Charizard]] where they are doubly advantageous against its dual type.

'''{{PAGENAME}}''' is a [[Johto]] ruin located south-east from [[Violet City]], connected through the routes [[Route 32]] and [[Route 36]]. The area will be completed blocked until the player has completed the [[Goldenrod City]] gym.

Most of the Ruins of Alph will still be blocked at first, having only the [[Item Maniac]] and the Ruins Research Center available. With each NPC in the Ruins Research Center asking for specific requirements before offering their services, this leaves little interest in the location at first.

With [[Surf]] being unlocked again after defeating the [[Ecruteak City]] gym, it will now be able to reach the areas reachable only by crossing the [[Union Cave]]. However, this still leaves little interest, as this only adds the patches of grass in this area and inclose the [[Trick]] tutor.

The main parts unlock after defeating the [[Elite Four (Johto)|Johto Elite Four]], which will allow to get started on the Celebi Quest as well as catch the location's famous [[Unown]]. The trainers inside the ruins are however very strong, all nearing level 100 Pokémons and sometimes even surpassing that level.

===Puzzle Rooms===
Outside of the main Ruin, there are four Puzzle Rooms. Each room are almost identical in structure. One the top floor, Ghosts blocking the ladder will ask the player to show them a Pokémon, then ask a question regarding the Pokémon, often about its base stats. If the question is not answered correctly, they will kick the player into the main Ruin, and he or she will have to walk back to the Puzzle Room. On the floor below, there will be a trainer and a Scientist. On the bottom floor, there will be four pokéballs that will contain either a level 120 Pokémon or an item, however they will not be pickable until talking with Scientifist Alexander.

====Puzzle 1====
The Puzzle 1 building is the north-most building, adjacent to the north gate, and the most simple to enter as [[Surf]] is not required to reach. The path may not be obvious at first, as it will be necessary to navigate through the two buildings that seem to be blocking the way.

Inside of it, the ghosts will ask to be shown any [[Pidgey]]. They will then ask what is its total base stats, the answer being 251.

The Pokéballs on the bottom floor will be the following:
*North-west: Level 120 [[Kabutops]]
*North-east: Level 120 [[Omastar]]
*South-west: 1 [[Pokeball]]
*South-east: Level 120 [[Golem]]

====Puzzle 2====
The Puzzle 2 building is in the south-east corner of Ruins of Alph, and is adjacent to a body of water that will be necessary to cross to reach the building. As such, it is necessary to bring [[Surf]].

Inside of it, the ghosts will ask to be shown any [[Spinarak]]. They will then ask at which level it evolves, the answer being 22.

This is the room in which Scientist Alexander is, and it will be necessary to speak to him in order to progress with the Celebi Quest as well as to pick-up the items at the bottom floor of each Puzzle Room.

The Pokéballs on the bottom floor will be the following:
*North-west: 1 [[Rare Candy]]
*North-east: Level 120 [[Claydol]]
*South-west: Level 120 [[Aerodactyl]]
*South-east: Level 120 [[Gengar]]

====Puzzle 3====
The Puzzle 3 building is the building immediately west of the south-most cave exit. In order to reach it, it is necessary to enter the [[Union Cave]], go down the north-most ladder, and then follow the south-most ladder after crossing the body of water with [[Surf]].

Inside of it, the ghosts will ask to be shown any [[Magnemite]]. They will then ask which of its stats has the highest base stat, the answer being its Special Attack.

The Pokéballs on the bottom floor will be the following:
*North-west: Level 120 [[Cofagrigus]]
*North-east: Level 120 [[Marowak]]
*South-west: Level 120 [[Omastar]]
*South-east: Level 120 [[Kabutops]]

====Puzzle 4====
The Puzzle 4 building is the building adjacent to both the main Ruin building and the north-most cave exit. Just like Puzzle 3, it will be necessary to reach it through the [[Union Cave]], however the north-most ladder must be taken instead after crossing the body of water.

Inside of it, the ghosts will ask to be shown any [[Rattata]]. They will then ask what is its base Speed, the answer being 72.

The Pokéballs on the bottom floor will be the following:
*North-west: 1 [[Elixir]]
*North-east: [[G.S Ball]]. This is the important item required for the Celebi quest.
*South-west: 1 [[Hyper Potion]]
*South-east: 1 [[Revive]]

===Celebi Quest (Part 1)===
Despite that the Ruins of Alph is accessible after completing [[Goldenrod City]]'s gym, police officers will be blocking every ruin until the player has completed the [[Elite Four (Johto)|Johto Elite Four]]. Once that has been achieved, the police officers will trust the player with a mission; find the scientist that have gone missing inside the ruins.

The Scientist, called Alexander will be found in the Puzzle 2 building, and thus is will be necessary to bring a [[Spinarak]]. After finding him, he will explain that he's looking for an important item, and wants the player to find it for him.

After speaking to Scientist Alexander, it will now be possible to examine the Pokéballs at the bottom of each Puzzle room. The item he is looking for is in the Puzzle 4 building, and thus it will be necessary to bring a [[Rattata]] and reach the building through [[Union Cave]]. At its bottom, the [[G.S Ball]], the item he is looking for, will be the northeast item.

After bringing the [[G.S Ball]] back to him, he will reward the player with one of four different [[Fossils]], namely the [[Helix Fossil]], the [[Dome Fossil]], the [[Claw Fossil]] and the [[Root Fossil]]. The Hoenn fossils being rarer, it is recommended to pick between the latter two. He will then ask to return later when he has fixed the [[G.S Ball]], putting an end to the first part of the Celebi quest.

*Over 275 hours of playtime.
*121 evolved Pokémon data.
*The [[Elite Four (Johto)|Johto Elite Four]] completed.

With the [[G.S Ball]] obtained, the Celebi quest will continue at [[Ilex Forest]].

===Item Maniac===

Inside the first building south-west of the north gate is located the Item Maniac of Johto, a collector of [[Valuable Items]]. He will buy any valuable item you have such as [[Nugget|Nuggets]].

===Stardust Seller===
A Stardust Seller is stationed outside of the Item Maniac's building. He sells up to 3 [[Stardust|Stardusts]] a day, at the price of {{Pdollar}}9,000 each. While selling [[Stardust|Stardusts]] to Item Maniacs only reward half of that, {{Pdollar}}4,500 a piece, this NPC can still prove useful in case someone needs one for the [[Daycare System|Daycare Quest]], but has already sold all he or she had.

===[[Trick]] Tutor===
A [[Move Tutors|Move Tutor]] for the move [[Trick]] can be found in the south-west section of the ruins, immediately next to the only patch of grass. It will be necessary to go through [[Union Cave]] in order to reach him. He will teach the move to any compatible Pokemon for the price of {{Pdollar}}6,000.

===Ruins Research Center===
====Hoenn Fossil Reviver====
Hoenn Expert Dolan in the Ruins Research Center will revive the Hoenn [[Fossils]], namely the [[Claw Fossil]] into an [[Anorith]] and the [[Root Fossil]] into a [[Lileep]]. However, he will not offer his services until the player has completed the Pokédex data for Kanto [[Fossils]], specifically the evolved data of both [[Omastar]] and [[Kabutops]], as well as the caught data of [[Aerodactyl]].
